Historic Lecture Gold Rushes of the 19th Century – Connecting the Golden Dots. 3:00pm in the Log Chapel – Frisco Historic Park and Museum – Lecture Presented by Rick Hague.In celebration of Frisco’s Gold Rush weekend, join us for a lecture on the story of America’s early gold rushes.  The California and Pikes Peak gold rushes didn’t just happen in isolation but had important technological and cultural influences and advancements which connected them all.

4 - friday -Museum Movie Night: The Gold Rush. 6:00pm in the Log Chapel – Frisco Historic Park and Museum -- A fun presentation of the original classic 1925 Charlie Chaplin movie The Gold Rush.  The building will open at 5:30 with seating available on a first come basis.  The building is heated and we will serve hot cider and popcorn.

5 - saturday -Ski History: 150 Years of Fun in the Fluff--3:00pm in the Log Chapel, Frisco Historic Park and Museum - Lecture Presented by Mary Ellen Gilliland. In celebration of Frisco’s Gold Rush weekend, join local historian Mary Ellen Gilliland for a look backward to Colorado’s first recorded skiing in Summit County in 1860 and the long glide from funky 1880s ski outings and 1920s ski jump championships to today’s downhill and skinny ski races.

5 - saturday - Spontaneous Combustion - Frisco. A community bonfire to kick-off the Gold Rush Weekend event.  Come to the Frisco Bay Marina for lighting of the bonfire at 6:00 p. m. and a fireworks show at 7:30 pm.  Beverages and snacks will be sold at the bonfire. Proceeds benefit the Summit Nordic Ski Club. www.summitnordicskiclub.org

16 - saturday - Presidents Weekend En Fuego , Copper heats up at night with En Fuego from 6:00-8:00pm.  Enjoy activities including a torchlight parade, street entertainers, bonfires, fire performers, and the finale of a brilliant fireworks display.

3 thursday - 7 monday--Colorado Special Olympics Winter Games - The Winter Games mark the culmination of the winter sports season for the 550 athletes who annually participate in Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Snowshoeing, and Snowboarding.  This season marks the 23nd consecutive year at Copper Mountain will host the event.  Copper is proud to be the official winter training site for all Colorado-based winter Special Olympics athletes as well as the official host resort for the Winter Games through 2010.

4 - friday -Pink Party– 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Tubbs Romp to Stomp pre-registration party. The Pink Party is open to Romp participants and those who support the cause! The party will feature:

Strap on your snowshoes for the Colorado Romp to Stomp–a fun, family-friendly snowshoe event that is truly in a class of its own! With the majestic Rockies raising high above, thousands of people decked out in pink, and a festive atmosphere complete with live entertainment & FREE breakfast, this event is not to be missed!

This event is recommended for kids 0-8 years old. There are age specific areas for kids.

Ages 0-3 will be egg gathering in Town Hall.

Ages 3-5 will be egg gathering along one section of Madison to 2nd located on one side of the banner that will be in place that day.

Ages 6-8 and up will be egg gathering along Main Street  from Madison to 2nd and the Historic Park area on the other side of the banner. Volunteers will be on hand to get kids to the correct areas.

We recommend anyone with older children in their family check out Copper Mountain, where they have Easter Egg Hunts for ages. Older children will have more challenge finding the eggs and will be able to collect more at Copper. Copper is only 6 miles from Frisco and will also have special prize eggs.

24 - sunday - Easter Sunday – Colorado’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt, 50,000 Easter Eggs will fill the Village and Mountain this Easter Sunday at Copper Mountain.  There will an all-ages hunt on the mountain and two kids-hunts in the Village at Copper. Plus there will be special “Copper Eggs” in each of the hunts that can be redeemed for great prizes!

23-25 - friday -sunday - Courage Classic at Copper - The 22nd Children's Hospital Courage Classic returns to Copper for three consecutive, fun filled days of cycling over three Rocky Mountain passes at the height of summer.  About two thousand riders hit the roads from Leadville to Summit County and back, for a 157 mile ride, encompassing backcountry roads, challenging climbs and as always, picturesque views, all in an effort to raise money for the Children's Hospital in Denver.  www.couragetours.comwww.couragetours.com

The Canine 4K is great exercise and socialization for everyone and gives owners a chance to enjoy a beautiful day in the mountains with thier friend and donate to a good cause, the League for Animals and People of the Summit (LAPS). There are running and walking categories, a silent auction, lots of pet vendors with goodies, and great prizes! 30 - saturday -Hike MS - Copper Mountain - a brand new fundraising event brought to you by the Colorado Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, offers three beautiful mountain hike routes over varying terrain and mileage. Register today to join us on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Copper Mountain Resort and become part of a team working together to raise money for our shared mission. We mobilize people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS.
Coloradans' interest in outdoor pursuits and healthy activities makes this event perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, day hikers, current members of the MS Society family and community members who wish to support a great cause. Participants are encouraged to form teams and to hike with friends, family and co-workers.
Become a Hike MS Founding Participant by joining us this inaugural year and you will never pay future registration fees as long as you continue to participate in Hike MS. Although we do not have a registration fee this year, we do require a fundraising minimum of $50 per participant. Raising $50 is easy, ask 5 people for $10 and you will hit the minimum. saturday- Copper Triangle - TThe famous Copper Triangle has long been considered one of Colorado's classic alpine road rides.  Graced with 78 miles of breathtaking scenery, gorgeous roads and three challenging climbs (including Fremont Pass,  Vail Pass,  and Tennessee Pass),  the Copper Triangle exemplifies cycling in the Colorado Rockies.  The 2011 ride works in the partnership with the Davis Phinney Foundation to raise funds for Parkinson's disease research.  www.coppertriangle.com

The artists will be present at their booths all weekend, giving you the chance to meet with them, learn about the pieces of artwork in their display as well as commission a specific piece of artwork for your home.

 20 - saturday - Circle the Summit - .Summit Biking invites you to top off your biking summer with a fabulous day of road biking in the “Cycling Hub of the Rockies.” End your summer cycling season on the ultimate "high" note....join us for Circle the Summit in beautiful, Summit County, CO.  Our classic and metric centuries will not only challenge you, but will take your breath away with amazing vistas of the Colorado Rockies.  Two shorter routes are available for those not looking to push as hard.  All 4 distances circle beautiful Lake Dillon and are loop rides that begin and end on Frisco's Historic Main Street, simplifying logistics.  This event is capped at 750 riders.
The ride is followed by a great lunch of Kobe burgers grilled on the spot by The Mint Steakhouse. (other options available) Wash it all down with a local brew and then take in the great entertainment provided by the Frisco Block Party beginning at 3:30pm. This year's headliner is The Band of Heathens from Austin, TX. Century - 60 Miles - 45 Miles - 21 Miles

20 - saturday - Frisco Block Party – The funkiest blues are coming to Frisco to carry on the tradition of great Music on Main Street.  Saturday, August 20th marks the 21st Annual Music on Main is a free concert in the heart of the rockies, and this year we are proud to announce Grammy Winner Booker T to headline the show.  You may recognize this Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer from his latest work with Drive By Truckers or from his over 50 year career with artist from Bill Withers to Neil Young.

A great blues musician deserves an opening band thats reputation for a great party is matched by their incredible sound, that is why only the Subdudes would do.   The Subdudes famous for there inception at Tipitina’s in New Orleans came from their blend of Drifters songs to their unique sound of the “Miracle Mule” that topped the charts in 2004.

This fun and funky concert in the mountains starts at 4pm with Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights.  Lawn Chairs are allowed behind the dance party line.  Food and Beverages will be available from an assortment of vendors.

2-4 – friday-sunday - Copper Country--A FREE Labor Day festival tradition, Copper Country celebrates the best of the American spirit.  Incredible live music, Copper Country Arts Festival, kid's crafts, the Copper Kids' Corral, mechanical bull rides, a petting zoo and pony rides come together to make it the Labor Day event for the entire family.  Past acts include Little Feat, America, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lynryd Skynrd and The Doobie Brothers.  http://www.coppercountryfest.com/

11 - saturday - Beetlefest - The 3rd Annual Beetlefest will carve it’s way on to Frisco’s Main Street. This unique zany event is designed to bring education and awareness regarding the devastation caused by the mountain pine beetle. The event will benefit the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District. Beetlefest will be accepting non-perishable food items for the Food Bank of the Rockies and the victims of the fourmile fire.Join us for a full day of activities from The DLM Timberworks Lumberjack show and live entertainment by White Water Ramble,  to a bug petting zoo, 4k beetle stomp, and bug slug. If you get tired from all the activity stop by the informational and artist booths to see the latest in Beetle Kill products
